5 Benefits of CEREC® Crowns

If you have not heard about CEREC® crowns before, now could be the right time to consider the treatment. In the past, you would have had to make multiple trips to the dentist to repair a tooth. Now, you can take care of everything in a single visit to the office. By doing this, you do not have to sacrifice quality or satisfaction.
When people may need CEREC Crowns
There are several reasons why a dentist may decide to put a crown over a tooth. It is a common treatment to prevent a decayed tooth from cracking or breaking. In other situations, it may be the right treatment to stabilize a broken tooth. Sometimes, a large cavity needs more than a filling. When the filling is not enough to protect the tooth, a crown can do the job effectively. Crowns also go over the top of dental implants and on either side of a bridge.
A CEREC crown requires less time in the office
A traditional crown is a viable treatment, but patients must wait for several weeks until it is in place. After taking X-rays and making impressions, the dentist sends the information to a lab. Here, a technician makes the crown. With CEREC crowns, the dentist uses 3-D technology to make the crown in the office. The picture goes to a milling unit, which creates the crown out of a ceramic block.
Skip the temporary crown
With regular crowns, the dentist will first use a temporary crown. This goes over the affected tooth until the real crown is ready. The temporary crown can be uncomfortable and is not durable. With CEREC crowns, patients can skip this step and start with the permanent cap.
Faster process
Not only do patients not need to come into the office multiple times for CEREC crowns, but the one visit is quick. When a person goes to the dentist’s office to get a traditional crown, the process can take more than an hour. Patients can expect less time in the chair with same-day crowns. The patient can then have more time for other needs.
Strong and durable
Wearing CEREC crowns can restore the patient’s smile. This treatment also allows the person to once again eat the foods they want. With good care and maintenance, these crowns can last up to 15 years. Just make sure to continue to brush and floss.
Natural-looking
It used to be that crowns stood out and hampered a person’s smile. Traditional crowns were often made of metal. However, CEREC crowns are made of ceramic. They are the same size, shape and color as the person’s surrounding teeth.
Come in to revive your smile
If you have a severe cavity or a damaged tooth, you may need a crown to protect it. You could go with a traditional cap or CEREC crowns. Talk to your dentist today about what makes the most sense for you. You can enjoy the benefits and advantages of getting a crown in one trip to the dentist’s office.
